Creating the sumptuous Hair and Make Up looks from our S/S18 shoot!
It's that time of the year when we want to rejoice in the sun and look forward to the summer. Don't let the snowy and cold weather outside bring you down and instead surround yourself with our wonderfully peachy new collection. And to add a bit more drama why not recreate the wonderful hair and makeup looks that made this campaign so special for us.
For this wonderful season of light and sunshine the amazing Alex Babsky (@babskymakeup) created the makeup looks we simply cannot stop recreating - our Spring Summer '18 Campaign makeup. While the hair looks for our S/S18 shoot were masterminded by Lara Zee, a London-based hair stylist, the cream of the crop and our personal hair favourite (@larazeehair).

For the first look Alex created a clear and glowy complexion with minimal make up. In order to achieve the best base he triple cleansed so that the skin looked plumped, polished and healthy and them moisturised with the lightweight Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream. With minimum foundation and concealer he evened out the skin tone and added colour to it and powdered it down with only a light dusting of powder in order to not eliminate the glow.
Next, Alex used a cream bronzer and highlighter to add depth and dimension as well as keeping the skin natural looking and dewy. The brows were matched to the hair and warmed up to tie in with the sunny environment and summer feeling of the collection.
The makeup was finished off with a touch of the Monsiuer Big Mascara by Lancôme and plumped lips achieved with a bit of lip liner by Lancôme in Beige Rose and that was lightly blended.
The hair for this look was lightly curled and with a texturizing spray it was left to have it's own natural flow so as to pair with the natural and light makeup look.
For the second look, to add a more dramatic spin to some of the more fashion-forward pieces, Alex blended a little dark brown eye shadow to the lid to add depth, and used a soft black liner on the lash line, smudging it on the eye lid for a smoky look. Slightly heavier mascara opened up the eyes and gave them more definition.
S/S18 - Behind the scenes at the shoot of our new collection!
Delving Behind the Scenes of our S/S18 Mood shoot
It’s that time of year again. Mood shoot blog!
Campaign shoots are a hugely important part of the season as they set the tone for the collection as a whole; the images created are used to present and introduce the new range to everyone. No pressure!
Set up, shot and de-rigged in the space of just one day, two mood shoots happen each year - one for Spring/Summer, one for Autumn/Winter. The shoot for our latest collection, our SS18 shoot, was one of the craziest!
Behind the scenes
We went all out this season and packed the whole team off on location to a beach-side house outside of London with some absolutely killer views of the sea. Shot both inside and outside (and it wouldn’t have been England without some great British weather…) with our photo shoot dream team, our SS18 imagery might well be the loveliest yet.
The stunning beach-side location
We love these mood shoots, the fast-paced hustle and bustle, the thrill of seeing everything come together, the chance to shoot in such amazing places, the fun! And we wanted to share this behind the scenes experience with you, our other dream team.
Teamwork...
We also love a challenge, and getting the team and all the equipment there, as well as setting up, moving locations and battling the changeable weather of the English seaside proved such. But we wouldn’t have changed it for a thing. Our amazing photographer Alisa ploughed on magnificently despite being eight months pregnant, an applaudable achievement, while our gorgeous model Krystal stayed stoic in the rain (the sun made an appearance too, we promise).
Keeping warm
As per usual, we shot two different looks at the shoot. The first was ‘on location’ around the house and on the beach itself, and the second was against a pink backdrop (colourama, if you want to sound fancy).
Look One - 'on location' in Julienne
Look Two - pink colourama in Talisa
Our
Hair and Make Up team created two looks with our lovely model to mirror this split and aren’t they just GORGEOUS.
The
hair and
makeup alone, done by dynamic duo Alex and Lara, were so key that we decided to honour the processes with their own blog – check them out

The
SS18 collection was inspired by lifestyles that overrule convention and tradition; this was to be a contemporary collection of lingerie and nightwear with a provocative allure. Midnight shades are enhanced with a cosmetic-inspired palette to create a seductive dalliance on the skin. The provocative undertones blend with the delicate freshness of subtly sheer fabrics, ethereal lace, stretch mesh, and opulent guipure.
This indulgent, luxurious and empowering aesthetic shaped also the inspiration for the shoot itself and the elements of beauty and strength are evident in all of the images. Women who wear what they want, when they choose to wear it; a freedom to be worn and enjoyed.
All in all we would say a huge success! The whole team made it through in one piece, the setting was stunning, the collection looked the bee’s knees and the weather could have been worse…

To achieve the wet hair look that goes perfectly with the darker and more moody part of the season Lara used a Bumble and Bumble texturizing spray and Dry Finishing Oil. This achieved a "just came out of the sea" look - perfect for the Spring/Summer season and for the location itself!

So if you yearn for the warm and sunny months as much as we do why not treat yourself to some gorge pieces from our collection and recreate the makeup and hair looks?
Maybe if we all decide to dress for summer it will finally arrive...!
